Charles Andres
Executive Director

Charles Andres is a 25+ year veteran of the IT industry and is a founding member of Project VRM at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School.

As co-founder of the Information Card Foundation, Mr. Andres brought together industry leaders working on open source interoperability development that gives Internet users the ability to control their personal data, and present trusted verified credentials to online businesses.

Prior to the Information Card Foundation, Mr. Andres was Market Development Engineering Director at Sun Microsystems, where he managed projects with Sun partners in identity, security, SOA, business processes and analytics, and Web 2.0 technologies.

Josh Broder
President

Joshua Broder is the President of the Tilson family of companies, including Tilson Technology Management, Tilson Government Services, Construction Change Partners, Offcore LLC, and Source Asia Services, and is a board member of TechMaine. At Tilson Technology Management, Josh works with clients to effect IT organizational change, usher projects to completion, and manage risk as a consultant and IT Director/CIO for hire. Josh heads up Tilson’s utilities consulting group. Prior to joining Tilson, Josh managed the communications network in Central Asia for the US Military, other government agencies, and coalition forces at 36 bases in several countries. Josh was recently awarded the TechMaine CxO of the Year award.

Zachariah Conover
President/CEO

Recognizing the serious nature and market opportunity surrounding the GPS reliability problem, Zach founded CrossRate in 2004. Today Zach leads a team at CrossRate which includes leaders in Position, Navigation, and Time from Stanford University, University of Rhode Island, the United States Coast Guard Academy, the University of Maine, the Federal Aviation Administration, and Drexel University. A former U.S. Coast Guard officer Zach’s last posting was at the Loran Support Unit as the Configuration Manager for the North American Loran System. In this role he oversaw the testing, fielding and support for all equipment and systems. Prior to this he served as a deck watch officer onboard USCGC STEADFAST, a ship home ported in Astoria, OR. With a patrol area encompassing the entire West Coast Zach was involved with search and rescue, counter-narcotics, counter-terrorism, and fisheries law enforcement operations. He earned his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and graduated with honors from the Drexel Executive MBA program.

In addition to his work at CrossRate, Zach also serves as Vice President on the Board of Directors for the International Loran Association and is co-Chairman of the eLoran Industry Working Group.
 

Corson (Corky) Ellis
President and Founder

Corky Ellis is President and Founder of Kepware Technologies; Corky started Kepware Technologies in 1995. The process of founding Kepware also involved leaving New Jersey in search of a new home, appropriate for raising his new family. He found that place in Maine, reflecting the states slogan – "The Way Life Should Be." Today, Kepware is located in downtown Portland, an area known as the historic Old Port, employs over 40 people and is the world leading company for communications and related products for use in the automation marketplace. Corky's main focus is on Kepware's long term direction through strategic acquisitions and organic growth.

Corson Ellis graduated from Amherst College and received an M.B.A. degree from Columbia University.

Michael Erlewine
PhD student in Linguistics at MIT

Mitcho (Michael Yoshitaka Erlewine) is a linguist, coder, and teacher whose work lies at the intersection of the internet and human language. Born in Japan, raised in Minnesota, missing Chicago, and now in Somerville, MA, Mitcho is no longer sure where to say he hails from. He recently led the development of multilingual support for the Ubiquity natural language interface at Mozilla Labs. He has previously been a Fulbright scholar in Taiwan and is currently a PhD student in linguistics at MIT.

Eric Kaiser
Director of New Media Development

Eric got his start in newspapers as a photojournalist nearly 25 years ago. He's worked at small and large newspapers including the Sandusky Register in Sandusky, Ohio, The Virginia-Pilot in Norfolk, Virginia, the Daily-Press/Times-Herald in Newport News, Virginia, and the Sun-Sentinel in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

While in Florida he taught himself how to build web sites with the hope of advancing his freelance photography and design business. It was during this time in Florida that Eric received an email from a former boss who was now the Executive Editor at the Sun Journal in Lewiston, Maine. He was looking for a Web Editor. This seemed like a perfect blend of journalism and technology.

That was nearly ten years ago. Currently Eric is employed as the Director of New Media Development at the Sun Journal in Lewiston, Maine. Eric has held several titles including Web Editor and Web Department Manager.

Eric is a graduate of the Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, earning a dual BFA/BSJ degree. He lives in Auburn, Maine, and is married to his college sweetheart Denise. They have two boys Joshua, 9, and Nicholas 6.
 

Adam Kempler
Chief Web Officer

Adam Kempler has worked in the internet space since the Web's beginnings in 1993. Adam's blend of technical expertise and background in strategic development has helped shape the online initiatives of many fortune 100 companies.

Prior to helping found Celsius Technology Group, Adam was working on Madison Avenue creating innovative solutions for companies including Warner Bros., Citibank, Sony, Bertelsmann and Johnson & Johnson.

He is now focusing his attention on transforming the newspaper and publishing industries.

Joe Michaud

Joe Michaud has been involved in journalism for over 30 years. In 1995, while at the Portland Press Herald, he led the launch of MaineToday.com , which rapidly became recognized as a leader among U.S. regional newspaper sites, and achieved both financial success and audience success. As president of MaineToday, Joe was a finalist for Digital Pioneer in 2001 by the Newspaper Association of America.

Since early 2008, he has been helping media companies and others more fully embrace interactive technology as part of their growth strategies. Joe is a graduate of the University of Maine in Orono with a double major in journalism and video/film. Kevin Reader
Vice President

Mr. Reader is a partner in Perry & Banks, a 20 year old marketing and PR firm headquartered here in Portland Maine. With degrees in International Affairs and Organizational Leadership, Kevin is a self proclaimed survivor of more recessions, acquisitions and divestitures than he cares to count. He has been widely published, is a national speaker on the subject of Supply Chain Automation, and is a specialist in demand generation and multi-channel marketing to both consumer and business-to-business brands. He was chairman of the board of VTNH Marketing Group, and currently serves on the board for TechMaine.

Patricia Seybold
Founder and CEO

Brian Sletten
Senior Platform Engineer

Brian Sletten is a liberal arts-educated software engineer with a focus on forward-leaning technologies. He has a background as a system architect, a developer, a mentor and a trainer. His experience has spanned the online games, defense, finance and commercial domains, with security consulting, network matrix switch controls, 3D simulation/visualization, Grid Computing, P2P and Semantic Web-based systems. He has a B.S. in Computer Science from the College of William and Mary. He is a Senior Platform Engineer for Riot Games in Culver City, CA working on League of Legends. He focuses on web architecture, resource-oriented computing, social networking, the Semantic Web, scalable systems, security consulting and other technologies of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

Carl Spang
President

Prior to purchasing Falcon in October of 2007, Carl managed an operations and IT consulting company and worked in the computer industry, holding management positions at Digital Equipment Corporation and Sun Microsystems. At Digital, Carl worked in operations at the Data Storage and Personal Computer divisions. At Sun, he worked in IT for Sun’s Field Service Logistics group. Carl purchased Falcon with partner Globe Firefighter Suits in 2007 to manufacture innovative firefighter boots featuring a running-shoe foot bed. Falcon has received two grants from the Maine Technology Institute for integration of RFID tracking devices into mining boots and for the development of a composite safety toe. Located in Lewiston, Falcon manufactures premium firefighter and industrial boots for the North American market.

Craig Spitzkoff
VP of Development

Craig Spitzkoff is the V.P. of Development at Raizlabs Corporation, a mobile application design and development company based in Brookline, MA.

Craig has been developing software professionally for more than 12 years, with the first part of that being spent in the defense industry. More recently Craig has been focused on mobile application development, specifically targeting the iPhone for several New England based start-ups as well as Fortune 500 companies.

Aside from mobile application development, Craig also enjoys working on web based start-up companies; Craig was the founder of JobVent.com, and sold it in 2009. Craig earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Tufts University and an MBA from Northeastern University.
 

Corissa St. Laurent
New England Regional Development Director

Corissa is a public relations and marketing expert with more than 10 years experience creating powerful marketing and brand campaigns. She is an avid volunteer, having served on the board of directors of a non-profit women’s business networking organization, lending her expertise to branding the organization and supporting other women professionals and entrepreneurs. Corissa uses her business development, management, and leadership skills to help small businesses and non-profit organizations maximize the power of relationship marketing. Successfully launching two small businesses, including a public relations and event marketing firm and a holistic body care and wellness service, Corissa has a proven track record of entrepreneurial success and will serve as your Constant Contact expert in New England, helping small businesses, non profits and associations learn how to build lasting relationships through email marketing and online surveys.

Dylan Voorhees
Clean Energy Director

Dylan Voorhees directs the Clean Energy Project at the Natural Resources Council of Maine, the state’s leading environmental advocacy organization.

Since 2006, Voorhees has led NRCM’s involvement in a variety of energy and climate issues, including adoption of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, wind power/renewables policy and permitting, and energy efficiency funding and standards—including the establishment of Maine’s mandatory energy building code in 2008 and the restructuring of energy efficiency programs in 2009.

Prior to joining NRCM, he worked on wind power issues for the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs in Massachusetts, and on sustainable land use development for the Vermont Forum on Sprawl. Voorhees holds a BA from Columbia University and a Master of Public Policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, where he concentrated in environmental and energy policy.
