5 Milk Street
Portland, ME
PHPug starts up again on September 14, with a presentation by group maangers on PHP fundamentals. "Fundamentals" doesn't mean "simple," though: We will talk about some things that you might not know, even if you use PHP every day.
NOTE: THIS MEETING WILL BE HELD AT Portland Webworks, 5 Milk Street, Portland See: http://www.portlandwebworks.com/contact/ for location and parking information.
Jamie Peloquin will cover one of his favorite gems, getimagesize() - which he finds indispensable.
Michael Reid will offer a short presentation on executing CRUD operations on the database level. It will cover database connections, queries, ORM, and security into a simple database abstraction layer. The talk will focus on how to leverage PHP to interface with databases. From soup to nuts, it will cover everything you need to know to get a database up and running on your site.
Thad Wheeler will cover form security and processing: Forms are an integral part of nearly all websites, we use them to sell or buy, to gather information, build online communities and communicate. Secure and well designed forms make our lives easier, both as a developer and as a user. This session will look at some great php functions and best practices to build secure and user friendly forms.
