  MaineJUG - Scala
Tuesday, June 15, 2010 - 6:00pm - 8:00pm
TechMaine Technology Center

While the ongoing debate on what's coming after Java is still raging, one programming language has already taken over the key intellectual beachheads, such as academia, the minds of leading software enthusiasts, and the bets of the hottest start-ups (e.g. Twitter!). This language is Scala.

Scala is a JVM based language that is fully interoperable with Java. It provides a nice blend of object-oriented principles along with a strong influence from functional programming as well as particularly elegant abstractions for multi-threaded programming.

About the Speaker: Kyrill Alyoshin is a Toronto-based independent consultant who currently works for Bottomline Technologies via Base36, northern New England's premier technical consulting firm.

Harnessing the Power of the Internet for Marketing
5 Steps for Integrating Your Current Marketing into the Dynamic World of Online Marketing

Carole Mahoney, President and CEO of Mahoney Internet Marketing in Portland, will speak at the June 23rd Maine Marketing Association Lunch & Learn. Lunch is included in the entrance fee

Internet Marketing - is it Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google Buzz, SEO, PPC, Email, Blogging? How about - none of the above? Internet Marketing is still marketing. Each of the tactics listed are part of the online marketing mix, which ones you use (and how you use them) depends on your business and your customers - not what the latest fad or trend is.

In this workshop, you will learn what essential 5 steps are necessary to successfully integrate and implement an internet marketing plan for your business:

  • Research: Your market, your competitors, your customer's keywords and buying preference.
  • Plan: Your business goals & key performance indicators, marketing objectives & strategy, customer experience mapping and conversion scenarios.
  • Implement: Campaign launch, design updates, analytics & technology enablers.
  • Measure: What happened, where, why and how to use the data to improve the strategy.
  • Optimize: Update the strategy and campaigns and repeat.

About Carole Mahoney
Carole Mahoney is President and CEO of Mahoney Internet Marketing in Portland, Maine. She founded the company with one goal in mind: Bring the focus back to the customer and their experience while helping businesses achieve a measured return on investment in all their marketing efforts. Every business is unique, each with their own challenges and obstacles to overcome. Businesses in various industries, from small start-ups to established corporations have achieved measured success with their internet marketing. Her process has given them not only a plan for success, but a way to learn more about their customers, their industry, and their own business.

Networking and registration for the seminar, which is open to both Maine Marketing Association (MMA) members and non-members, begins at 11:00 AM.
