TechMaine has a new Executive Director!

John SpritzIntroduced to the TechMaine membership at the June Gala, John Spritz is the new Executive Director for TechMaine. He succeeds Joe Kumiszcza, who had led the organization since the late 1990s.

"We're extremely excited to have John as our new Executive Director," said Stephen Hand, President of Know Technology and President of TechMaine's Board of Directors. "He brings a diverse set of skills to the position, with a keen appreciation of the technology sector's importance and potential. The Board looks forward to working with him as we expand TechMaine's programs and services."

A Maine resident since 1990, Mr. Spritz has served as Director of Marketing at Walch Education, Program Director at WPKM, and the owner of John Spritz Marketing, a Portland-based consultancy. His consultancy clients include AT&T, Chase Manhattan Bank, IBM, M&M Mars, Migis Lodge, RJR Nabisco, and Wright-Ryan Construction. He holds an undergraduate degree from Harvard University.

In his introductory remarks at the Gala, he noted that "As far as I'm concerned, this industry, this association, this is the place to be if you're curious about where Maine will be in five, ten, and twenty years. ... By the very nature of the work we engage in, we are innovators.  In every walk of life -- in people's homes, in their jobs, in how governments operate, in how we move through the world -- in all of it, people look to today's technology innovators to help secure a better future. That's a huge responsibility. But I think we're up to it. And I look forward with great interest and commitment to the friends I'll make, and the innovations I'll witness, through this extraordinary collaboration of professionals that we call TechMaine."

Founded in 1992 as the Maine Software Developers Association, TechMaine includes more than 175 members, working together to enhance the state’s technology opportunities.
