System Administrator/Network Engineer

Burgess Technology Services, a Maine Managed Service Provider, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented System Administrator/Network Engineer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, supporting, and optimizing client IT environments, including Windows Server, Office 365, Cloud, Active Directory, and network infrastructure. This role requires a person with reliable transportation, professional demeaner, and excellent troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide onsite support in Maine. This job requires frequent travel to client locations. Candidates must have reliable transportation and a clean driving record.
  • System and Network Administration (AD, Group Policy, DNS, Etc)
  • Perform troubleshooting and analyses of servers, workstations and associated systems.
  • Handle DNS administration, implement and configure TCP/IP environments, and troubleshoot network problems.
  • Undertake routine preventative measures.
  • Implement, maintain, and monitor firewalls, VPNs, and network security appliances to safeguard client environments
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, email, anti-virus, anti-spam, network utilities, and printing and security.
  • Work collaboratively with other system administrators, network engineers, helpdesk technicians, and project teams to deliver efficient IT solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills and customer services skills
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Ability to climb stairs and lift up to 50 lbs as needed for equipment setup.
  • Strong skills in switching and routing, VLAN configuration, firewall configuration. 
  • Experience with administration and support of everything Microsoft 365, VMware & Microsoft Hyper-V, Backups, and desktop operating systems.
  • Education: Associate’s degree in Information Technology or MSP experience. Equivalent certifications may be considered. MSP experience is preferred.
  • Windows Server administration and Active Directory management
