The Civil Side of Solar

Dozens of large solar projects are slated to be constructed around Maine in 2022. Much goes into the early development of a successful project, but the construction work to build the project is particularly important. Project owners and construction contractors need to focus on building the project in accordance with the local, state and federal permits.  How does that all come together in a manner protective of the environment and respectful of local communities?

The goals of this panel are to:

-demystify the process of developing/reviewing/approving/building one of these projects.

-illustrate best and worst practices

-emphasize the most important characteristics of successful, fully compliant project construction.

-critical steps, from a third party inspectors point of view, to keep a project “on track”

-provide guidance for developers and contractors to avoid failures

Panel to include (in formation):

Jim Beyer – Director, Eastern Maine Regional Office, Maine Department of Environmental Protection

David MoyseLSS, LSE, Principal – Moyse Environmental Services
