February 22, 2013 - Portland, Maine – The Casco Bay Technology Hub (CBTH) recently announced the official opening of the brand new Business Innovation Center in Portland. The CBTH’s Business Innovation Center will create affordable offices for entrepreneurs and startups, and will help to nurture the development of an innovative tech culture within Portland. The Casco Bay Tech Hub is a Maine-based organization that seeks to support and unite the local entrepreneurial and technology community and spur innovation and business growth in Maine.
The new Business Innovation Center can house up to 22 small offices for startups. The offices range in size. Many accommodate a single desk for an entrepreneur and some can accommodate up to three or four desks for a small team or startup. The individual workspaces are lockable offices and will each belong to an individual company – they are not shared spaces. However, the overall layout of the Business Innovation Center is a community office space design. Small companies are able to take advantage of the community conference room, kitchen, phone room, lounge, event area and more. The layout was created to facilitate an internal culture of collaboration and support among like-minded peers.
All utilities, including high speed internet thanks to Time Warner Cable Business Class, are included in a month to month lease. The idea is to make a high growth work environment easily attainable for entrepreneurs and young startups that need a scalable solution for workspace. Entrepreneurs will be able to easily scale up within the Business Innovation Center and then eventually move out to a larger full office suite when they need to accommodate more employees.
Ogden Morse, Co-Founder & CEO of Academic Merit and current member of the Business Innovation Center commented, “The Business Innovation Center is a terrific response to the needs of Portland’s entrepreneurial community, particularly for those of us in and around technology – giving us a professional environment that is also conducive to both creativity and collaboration.”
